My Philosophy

We all have choice, freedom and responsibility. We are 'experts' of our own world and we have the ability to reach our true potential and be our own true self. I am an 'integrative' counsellor, which means my approach is based around various humanistic models of therapy such as, Transactional Analysis, Gestalt and Systems Theory, however, whichever approach I use when working with you, based on your individual needs, it will be underpinned by a Person-centred approach. It is my belief that the 'therapeutic relationship' is key to progress within therapy and I strive to offer the best conditions for this progress to happen.

'It is the client who know what hurts, what directions to go, what problems are crucial, what experiences have been deeply buried' - Carl Rogers

Life is difficult at times for us all and seeking help is not a sign of weakness or failure. Sometimes what is happening in our lives, or has happened in the past, brings with it a significance and impact that isn't always easy to understand alone.

Reasons for seeking counselling are as individual as we are, but whether it is uncertainty, anxiety, or any other kind of upset or confusion, the safe space and support that I strive to offer can help you through challenging times and difficult life choices.

The benefits of counselling include a greater degree of self-awareness and a better understanding of others. This improves self-esteem, and becomes reflective in your personal relationships. Psychological studies have shown empirical evidence which supports counselling and its mental and physical health benefits.
